I got personally attacked last time i wrote this on the internet but, I think Wendel is the nicest and best coach in the NCAA. He does not treat his athelets like race horses but as real people.

Wendel is the best and most knowledgeable coach I've ever had and the reason why I came to Kent State. He is one of the main reasons I am glad I didn't go to another school and everyone one of his athletes loved him.
Plus you can't argue with the improvements:
George Curran - 4:26 1600 to 3:49 1500 MAC Champ
Kyle Paul - could he even run a mile in HS to 3:50 1500
Ofer Barniv - 1:55/4:17 to 1:50/3:44
James Sjostrom - 9:09 3200 to 14:12 5000

Ha! Since Wendel is my brother I could unveil some deep dark secrets... but honestly there are none. He is an all around great guy. Be it Coach, Friend, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, he is the best at what he does. I hope and wish that everything and everyone he touches turns to gold. I'm not too proud of him!! Love ya Bro!

Wendel is the best coach for being understanding and supportive of his athlete's decisions. As Erin put it, "like athletes and real people, not race horses." He even stayed positive when girls like me starting crying in his office. He allowed me to be my own person and because of this I enjoy running today probably more than ever! And after a solid two+ years of pedestrian-type training/little to no training I've caught the fire again! Thanks Wendel...I'm hoping to be one of the post-collegiates who run better after college than they ever did during...hopefully with the ability to finally allow the "freedom to fail". :) And, yeah how about Regionals 02?!? :)...the not so anonymous, Craigers
